Fort Glanville

Preserving South Australia’s Coastal Defence Heritage

About Us

Built in 1880, Fort Glanville formed part of South Australia's coastal defence network alongside Fort Largs and the Port Adelaide Torpedo Station. It was developed during a period of concern about possible naval threats, and was intended to protect the approaches to Port Adelaide.

Today the fort is run by a close-knit group of volunteers from the Fort Glanville Historical Association who dedicate their time to preserve South Australian history and identity.
